Farmers’ Health, Safety and Wellbeing in the Spotlight at Glen Innes Event

Farmers and rural community members are invited to attend an informal evening focused on physical, mental and financial health on Thursday 11 September 2025 from 6–9 pm at the Glen Innes Services Club.

This free event, hosted by GLENRAC, will feature expert guest speakers and practical discussions designed to support farming families and strengthen rural communities.

SafeWork NSW will return to Glen Innes by popular demand, following strong engagement at previous events. Their session will cover staying safe on farms and highlight current small business rebates available to landholders.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service will share practical information on helicopter landings and on-farm rescue operation logistics — plus you will hear real-life lessons from an on-farm injury survivor. This much-valued service is close to the hearts of many in our region, with locals having first-hand experience of their life-saving work, supported by tireless local volunteer fundraising.

For the first time, the It’s a Bloke Thing Foundation will join a GLENRAC event, sparking open conversations about prostate cancer awareness and prevention. Men in rural Australia face a 24% higher risk of dying from prostate cancer, due to late diagnosis and reduced access to health services. Based in Toowoomba, the Foundation’s mission is to increase current screening rates from 40% and improve health outcomes for men by investing in education, care, and innovative approaches. Their fundraising supports research and care for men undergoing treatment — with the goal of saving lives and building a healthier future for rural communities.

The final presentation will come from the Glen Innes Health Hub, which continues to expand services for the local community. Attendees will hear about the latest updates and opportunities to access a wide range of health care services closer to home.

This event is free to attend, with a light supper provided. RSVPs are essential by 5 pm on Tuesday 9 September, for catering purposes.
