Media Release: ‘Rural women… we’re back!’ – 29th Rural Women’s Gathering goes off with a bang in Glen Innes.

More than a hundred women (and a handful of men) from across the region mustered in the New England last week to celebrate the 29th Rural Women’s Gathering.

Women from across regional and rural NSW will convene in Glen Innes for the 29th annual Rural Women’s Gathering next month, ahead of the International Day of Rural Women 2022.

The Gathering will be hosted by Glen Innes Natural Resources Advisory Committee (GLENRAC) and Guyra Evening Country Women’s Association, with support from the NSW Government and Rural Women’s Network.

Staff from the Australian Government Canberra agency for environment and wetlands visited the region recently to review the work that GLENRAC and its partners – National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and Northern Tablelands Local Land Services (NTLLS) – have been accomplishing in our National Landcare Program Phase 2 (NLP2) projects.

The search is on to find the most outstanding and influential women in NSW, with nominations now open for the 2023 NSW Women of the Year Awards.

Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said the annual awards played an important role in recognising inspirational women from diverse backgrounds across not only the region but the state.

Welcome the arrival of spring in the New England at GLENRAC’s open garden event at ‘Kent Farm’ Glen Innes this August.

This is the first time ‘Kent Farm’ will be open to the public since 2003 and GLENRAC are very proud to be hosting this event.
