Webinar Plans for Region's Promising Livestock Future
NORTHERN Tablelands MP and Minister for Agriculture Adam Marshall has today urged local livestock producers to take part in a two-part webinar series hosted by Northern Tablelands and North Coast Local Land Services (LLS), aimed at forecasting future livestock markets.
Mr Marshall said following unprecedented drought and bushfires across region, many livestock producers were starting to rebuild their businesses.
“Six months ago the forecast for the region’s agriculture sector was looking pretty grim, but thanks to widespread rain many farmers are experiencing one of their best Autumns in years and starting the monumental job of regrouping and looking to the future,” Mr Marshall said.
“To assist with that process LLS is teaming up to deliver a two-part webinar series Forecasting Australia’s Livestock Future with one of the best minds in the business, Simon Quilty.
“During the webinars, Simon will discuss global demand and supply factors including Coronavirus, African Swine Fever and competitor trade agreements, outlining how these will impact future Australian livestock prices, and importantly he will present his forecasts for the next three years.
“The past three years have been a real struggle on the land, now things are starting to turn around it is vital landholders know what is happening in livestock markets both locally and abroad, and what could mean for their operation moving forward.”
Northern Tablelands LLS Officer Max Newsome said the organisation was doing its bit to ensure the safety of its customers and team during COVID-19, was still available to offer advice and support.
“Most of our team are working from home but they can still be contacted for advice about animal health and welfare, agricultural production, to make arrangements for bait collection, and find out more about natural resource management projects on-farm,” Mr Newsome said.
“As primary producers start to evaluate what their options are around restocking, breeding or offering their land for adjustment we are here to help them navigate these challenging times and make appropriate decisions for their enterprises.
“I encourage producers to take advantage of these free webinars. Simon is a leading expert in his field, and our local team will be hosting the webinar and are able to provide you with advice tailored to your farm.”
