Farmer Update: Drought Funding Changes

25th Jul 2019

Attention all farmers! Has the end of June left you feeling uncertain about what drought assistance measures are available to you? The beginning of the new financial year marks changes for many rebates and subsidies, including the Emergency Drought Transport Subsidy, available through the NSW Rural Assistance Authority.

To ensure you have access to the most up to date information and support available, GLENRAC are hosting a Farmer Update event next week at the Glen Innes District Service Club which will cover all you need to know about drought funding and support programs.

Locally based Rural Financial Counsellor, Stuart Brummell, will speak about the current range of drought funding avenues available to farmers and farm related businesses, including emergency freight and water rebates, interest free and low interest bank loans and farm household allowances.

“I will be discussing the eligibility criteria and the application process for these assistance measures which will include rebates, loans and household support payments,” says Stuart. “This information will be important for those people impacted by the current drought conditions, and also for those people who wish to implement drought preparedness projects for future droughts.”

Also available on the day will be information, displays and staff members from the Salvation Army, The NSW Department of Industries Rural Resilience Program, Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, Northern Tablelands Local Land Services, Department of Human Services, New England Weeds Authority and GLENRAC.

The event is supported by funding received from the Rural Financial Counselling Service through the Farm Liaison Officer for Northern and Central NSW, Jennifer Jeffery.

Tea and coffee will be provided on the day.
