NSW Firearm Amnesty Announced
The NSW Government announced a statewide firearm amnesty from 1 July to 30 September 2018 in a bid to register or remove illegal firearms from the community.
During the National Firearms Amnesty in 2017, the NSW Police Force netted nearly 25,000 firearms from 7,277 individuals during the three month campaign.
Firearms and firearm-related items can be surrendered during the firearm amnesty at approved drop-off points, which include licensed firearm dealers, mobile stations, and police stations. Anyone with concerns about handling firearms or safely transporting them, can contact the NSW Police Force Firearms Registry for assistance.
